I am a greek/norwegian hybrid so here is my hybrid version of this traditional song about forbidden love, from Thrace.
http://www.wauwatosa.no https://wauwatosa.bandcamp.com http://spiritlevel.com - - - - - Sigurd from Wauwatosa says: "Like most Wauwatosa songs, this song is a puzzle of samples and recordings from improvised sessions. I remember sitting on the plane to visit my sister in Malawi, listening to a recording of an improvised session with Vegard Holum (trumpet), David Aleksander Sjølie (guitar) and myself (drums and samples).
Preview of an installation for my grad show at LCC, London. This installation aims to convey the office space and the memorial church from an old barium mining area in Mykonos, Greece. Active between the 1950s and the 1970s, the Mykobar mines are a big part of the history of the island that have gone undocumented. The mines created hundreds of jobs for people who were poor and hungry after the war, but also claimed lives, both inside the mines and the "miners illness" later. The American company that was called Mykobar left the area untouched after they left from island, and the council took no responsibility in cleaning up.
By interviewing people who worked there, I made a soundscape and played it back in these two spaces, the office and the church that was built to commemorate those who have died. By playing it back and recording it, playing it again and re-recording it in an Alvin Lucier-manner ("I am sitting in a room") the piece explores ideas of documentation, memory and ultimately decay.
In the installation, the videos will be looping on two screens while the sound is playing. It will be presented in a dark room, in order to create a focused atmosphere and eliminate possible distractions within the room itself.
